TOOLS #11

1.  What are your favorite tools you now have in your personal technology toolbox? Briefly describe a particular activity that you will plan for your students using at least one of these new tools.
I think I will use Google Docs the most.  From Student Leadership to Basketball it has a wide array of uses that will help my students and players become better informed. I will set up Scouting Reports for my Players and Quizzes for my Leadership kids.

2.  How have you transformed your thinking about the learning that will take place in your classroom? How has your vision for your classroom changed? Are you going to need to make any changes to your classroom to accommodate the 21st Century learner?
I think that I am more open minded to technology, do I trust it No!!  I will continue to add technology lesson plans to my daily plans but also know that it will fail when I need it the most. It has in the past and it will continue into the future.  I love the ideas and thoughts presented just worry about relying on it.  No I don't think I will have to do much other than rely on SBISD to educate me and get me the technology for my classroom.

3. Where there any unexpected outcomes from this program that surprised you?
No, with the friends that are so technology savvy that have shown me things throughout the years, I didn't think anything was to mind blowing.  I like that SBISD is trying to help the teachers who can then help the students, but I just hope we can continue updating the technology and add useful apps, websites and Docs.

TOOLS #10

1.Discuss at least three things you would want to make sure your students understand about being good digital citizens.
First, I would want my students to understand that just like being in the real world there are responsibility on correct etiquette on the real world and internet. Second, parents have rules in place in your life for your safety and so does SBISD, in filters and fire walls. Lastly, the way you communicate should have the same decorum on the internet and real world.

2. Share at least one of the resources mentioned above or on the Ed Tech website that you plan to use instructionally.
Rhonda's Reflection page has some useful information that I could use to educate myself and protect my students.

3. Explain briefly how you would "teach" the idea of digital citizenship to your students.
I would use facts and examples as well as information given to me by SBISD and things that I had found to educate my students. Try to get them to understand that the internet is more than just a computer it is a connection to the rest of the world, but unlike verbal communication, once you type and hit enter you cannot deny that it was said, its there in black and white. Have a contract as well.

TOOL #9

1. Why do you think it is important to tie the technology to the objective?
First, it makes it more enjoyable and fun to learn. Second it keeps kids up to date with technology. It should keep kids more focused on the lesson at hand because kids love all the bells and whistles.

2. Why should we hold students accountable for the stations/centers?
It teaches responsibly, which much of society lacks. Its part of their education. That's why!!!

3. Visit 2 of the applicable links to interactive websites for your content/grade level. Which sites did you like. How could you use them as stations? How can you hold the students accountable for their time in these stations?
Didn't find anything that will help me with Basketball or Student Leadership. But I know of apps for the IPad that we will use during basketball games and for stats. Something we use at half time or end of games and even during time-outs. You Tube, HULU or Channel websites are something we can use for Leadership to get information across to them.

4. List two to three apps you found for the iPod Touch/iPad that you can use in your classroom. What do you see that station looking like? How can you hold the students accountable for their time in these stations?
A. iLead365- Your Daily Personal Leadership Coach- Quotes and Positive Messages.
B. Disc Theory- Disc personality breakdown for classroom.
Stations can be set one IPad per station subsidized by personal IPads and cover each type of personality. They can be held accountable with Google Docs would be last station that they have to log into and answer questions for a grade or answer Open ended questions.

5. What about other ways to use the iPod Touch/iPad? Share another way you can see your students using the device as a station.
They can use iPod or iPad for music to go along with their presentation. iPad the can Video for use in class or photos.

TOOLS # 8

1. First the IPad,  I enjoy just being able to take roll and monitoring the classroom better. I can learn names
quicker with the students pictures by their names.  I can have groups work in stations with the 4 IPads when
doing book studies in Leaderships. Put together lesson plans quicker and easier.  Different apps that will
make my job easier and paperless.

2. I plan to store the equipment in a secure location.  I will use a 5 step plan that will continue to keep the
    devices in tip top shape.

TOOLS #7

1.Content Objective-- Be able to work together with all Princeton Basketball Coaches, asynchronous or
synchronous.
2. Implementation-- I would want to implement this info this Spring and Summer with all the high
school coaches in Texas.
3. Tools to be used-- Skype would be an excellent way to get info out in a synchronous way. I would
love to use Google Docs and work in a asynchronous way.
4. A brief Description-- I would love to have a place where coaches with the same offensive
philosophy (Princeton) could get together and share ideas. Have a bulletin
Board for questions to be answered, Videos to show the action, Diagrams
where the play is broken down and why we do what we do. On certain days
we could all get in front of a computer and talk X's and O's. Right now we all
meet at Memorial and talk. Some come from Austin, San Antonio, Dallas and
Houston.

TOOLS #6
I think twitter is ok, Not to excited!!!  I could use this twitter account to inform my basketball team of information on scouting report, practice changes or other info.  As for Poll Everywhere, i could quiz my players on opposing teams, ask where they would like to eat, or test my leadership class over classroom content.

Tools # 5 Here is my attempt at Stupeflix. it was pretty cool. I also tried Animoto.  It was also very easy to use. It seems to be a high tech slideshow, but what do I know.  I could easily use this for end of year awards as a fancy slideshow.  In the classroom who knows.  They could be given an assignment, they could then make a video using this product.

Try our slideshow creator at Animoto.

TOOLS #4 Now here is something I can use!!!! I totally see the importance of this. Google Docs is something that can make my classroom paperless just like Coach Larry!! I can put my scouting reports on Google Docs and my team could read them and fill out the form and I would know if they really read them or not, by the quiz. My Leadership class would be the same thing. Paperless and grading would be soooo easy. :) :) :) :) Google Apps would help with my coaching staff because everybody could add info and stats and plays from anywhere, home, work, gym or restaurant. There would not be 4 different copies, no cut and paste, no staying in school til 1am!!!! THAT'S Heaven on EARTH!! Both will be used in Memorial Boys Basketball!!

TOOLS #3 Blinkx is definitely a way to show videos in my Leadership class.  Using Youtube has the commercials and I am not a fan of that.  Being able to use Youtube for Basketball with all the clips is great though.  Being able to use copyright material is great as long as i follow the rules. I never thought I couldn't use it without paying a license fee. Dropbox is a great tool so that I do not have to worry about flash drives, multiple computers or damage to one or many. I always have the info no matter where I go. Its in Dropbox and being backed up constantly.

TOOLS #2

I am sure that this is very useful, I just don't have enough understanding of how it will help me.  I also think this could be something I could do over the summer, not given to me in the middle of my season, then expect it to be done so quickly.  So now I will just fly through it just so that I get it done. As for sharing my advice publicly,,,,,,, not to high on that one either.  I love the interaction with people not through a computer.
I will continue to visit places like www.twitter.com to get ideas.
